Why go

Starting at 863 m by the old Gap resthouse means cool air from the first step, and the trail climbs through mossy montane forest to Gunung Gap and on to the 1,394 m Ulu Semangkok summit. A favourite with birders and anyone who wants highland forest without the Cameron crowds.

Entry fee: RM5 SeForest permit plus mandatory licensed Malim Gunung (older sources quote RM10 locals / RM30 foreigners)
Opening hours: Day hike; start early (check before you go)
Best time to go: Dry mornings; bring a windbreaker
Time needed: 5–7 hours; ~6.6 km return, ~660 m gain, moderate–hard (Gunung Gap alone ~1 hour up)
How to get there: Drive Route 55 from Kuala Kubu Bharu toward Fraser's Hill to The Gap; roadside parking only, don't block traffic. Trail entrance is easy to miss near the old resthouse sheds; nearest public toilet ~500 m away.

Bukit Kutu (Treacher's Hill)

🥾 Hiking Trails · Kampung Pertak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor

Selangor's classic tough day hike climbs from the Pertak river to a 1,053 m summit with the ruins of a colonial hill station, rickety ladders and sweeping views of the Selangor Dam. Finish with a freezing river dip at the bottom; that is the reward lah.
